Compatibility

RingOtter is an iPhone app for your own Twilio phone numbers. You need iOS 18 or later, internet access, and a Twilio account with suitable numbers.

Your iPhone

Use an iPhone running iOS 18 or later. RingOtter is designed for iPhone; this site does not offer an Android, iPad, Mac, or browser app. A Wi-Fi or mobile data connection is needed to reach Twilio and RingOtter’s services.

Allow microphone access for calls. Notification permission is needed for app alerts. When iOS has denied a permission, change it in iPhone Settings rather than repeatedly requesting it in the app.

Your Twilio numbers

Use numbers owned by the Twilio account you connect. A number must have the relevant carrier capability: voice for calls, SMS for text messages. Check Numbers → your number → Carrier capabilities and the number’s configuration in Twilio Console.

A phone number from another provider does not become a Twilio number by typing it into ringotter. Any porting or number purchase is handled through Twilio separately. Connect an existing Twilio account once your numbers are ready.

Countries and destinations

Twilio’s number availability is not a blanket guarantee that every RingOtter workflow works in every country. Number type, destination, account status, local requirements, and provider permissions all matter.

Check Twilio’s country guidelines for the numbers and destinations you need. Outgoing calls can also be restricted by Twilio geographic permissions. Keep permissions limited to destinations you actually need.

We do not publish a RingOtter country certification list here. Ask about your intended setup before relying on a particular number type or country.

Account and messaging restrictions

Trial accounts have limits, including restrictions on recipients and destinations. Sender registration or verification can be required for messaging. Review Twilio’s current trial restrictions and the delivery checklist.

Connecting RingOtter does not remove Twilio or carrier restrictions. WhatsApp, RCS, and iMessage are not represented as supported channels on this site.

Numbers already used elsewhere

Check existing incoming call and SMS routing before enabling RingOtter’s routing. A number that currently sends calls or messages to another application may stop sending them there when its configuration changes.

For account setup and separate routing review, follow Connect Twilio. For app pricing and separate provider fees, see Pricing.
